Nelson SyrahTe Mānia
Nelson "Big Balls" Syrah 2010

Our “ Big Balls” Syrah has been produced to celebrate our world beating, giant size Rugby Ball – made with a good  deal of kiwi ingenuity and hundreds of meters of grapevine canes sourced from our organic vineyards. As its name suggests, this is a “ballsy” wine showing deep purple- red colour and intense aromas of black fruits, spices and white pepper. The palate is tightly bound (like a good front row) with fine grained tannis and rich, black berryfruit and white pepper flauvours.

A perfect accompaniment to roast Springbok, BBQ Wallaby or to wash down any English puddings.

Diet:  suitable for vegan diets

"Pure and fragrant, this youthful Syrah displays red/dark plum, floral, blueberry and a hint of dried herb notes on the nose. The palate is beautifully ripe and fleshy with silky texture and plenty of supple tannins. Approachable and tasty already but will develop lovely savoury complexity in time." ««««½ Stars 90 pts

"This full-coloured, full-bodied Nelson red offers strong plum and black pepper flavours, with hints of dark chocolate and spices. Still youthful, it is firm, savoury and complex, showing obvious potential ««««"

"Bright, deep, purple-red colour, very youthful in appearance. The nose has very intense, driven aromatics of black fruits, spices and white pepper, showing cool-climate fruit expression. Tightly bound and concentrated, this is a firmly constructed wine, the fine-grained tannins providing grip and drying mouthfeel to the black berry fruit and white pepper flavours. Match with hearty, slow-cooked red meat dishes over the next 5-6+ years.««« Stars"

"Aromas of berry, spice and herbs. On the palate, I found this medium bodied wine to have those same dark berry notes supported by exotic spice and fine tannins, leading to a long finish. It is an easy drinking wine that is drinking well now and will go well with spicy meat dishes like pepper steak or carne asada."
