Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2012

Sauvignon Blanc is ideally suited to the Nelson region where a combination of warm, sunny days and cool autumn nights, help to create the intense varietal flavours for which this flagship New Zealand wine is recognised. 

Nose:  Intense floral, gooseberry, elderflower notes with fresh herbs.

Palate:  A mouth-filling palate showing delicious gooseberry, green apple and tropical fruit flavours with typical minerally edge.  Rich and concentrated, the mid-palate shows genuine breadth and the overall impression remains clean, ripe and fresh.

Vintage:  A long sunny autumn resulted in excellent flavour development.  All fruit was crushed and destemmed before being cool fermented to preserve the vibrant, fresh Sauvignon characters.

Organic Status:  Certified Organic BioGro New Zealand.

Diet:  Suitable for vegan diet.

"Bright pale straw colour with pale green hues, near colourless on rim.  This has a full, even and tightly presented nose of ripe, pungent passionfruit and tropical fruit aromas, with gooseberries, herbs and minerally elements, promising to reveal more.  Dry to taste, tightly bound passionfruit flavours form a penetrating and intensely flavoured core.  The wine is zesty and crisp from racy acidity, which along with fine phenolic textures, forms a driven and linear palate.  The mouthfeel is firm and dry, and the wine has a very long, lingering finish of passionfruit and gooseberry flavours enlivened by bright acidity.  This is a racy Sauvignon Blanc with pungent passionfruit flavours supported by a long, textured palate.  Serve with Mediterranean cuisine over the next 2-3 years. «««« Stars"
