Te Mānia
Nelson Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2008
Sauvignon Blanc is ideally suited to the Nelson region where a combination of warm, sunny days and cool autumn nights, help to create the intense varietal flavours for which this flagship New Zealand wine is recognised.
Te Mānia’s Reserve Sauvignon Blanc is made using the best grapes available from our vineyards. It combines the classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas and flavours with rich texture and subtle flavours imparted by oak barrel aging.
Nose: Delightfully aromatic with citrus, lime, herbaceous and almond characters.
Palate: Luscious creamy texture, delicious citrus, gooseberry, green apple and tropical fruit flavours with a fine minerally backbone. A complex wine with a long lingering finish, that will continue to develop over several years cellaring.
Vintage: A warm spring weather contributed to a good flowering and fruit set. A long sunny summer resulted in early harvesting of ripe fruit in excellent flavour development. All fruit was crushed and destemmed before being cool fermented. 50% was then aged in oak barrels for 7 months to soften and mature before blending back with 50% from the tank to preserve the vibrant, fresh Sauvignon characters.
Alcohol: 13% Residual Sugar: <1g/L Acidity: 6.9 g/L

“Packed with flavour, this wine was tank-fermented, then matured 50/50 in tanks and seasoned oak barrels. Herbaceous, fleshy and rich, with strong gooseberry, herb, fig and spice flavours, a slightly nutty twist and considerable complexity” **** Stars

"Oak aged Sauvignon Blanc with plenty of flavour and a creamy texture. It's obviously, but not excessively, oaky with ripe tree fruit flavours and a suggestion of bready yeast character."
