Nelson Pinot Gris 2012
Te Mania Pinot Gris is a soft, subtle, fruity and elegant wine. This approachability makes it an excellent match for many different foods and cooking styles from spicy Asian dishes to grilled seafood.
Nose: Fragrant floral honeysuckle aromas mixed with tangelo and apple notes.
Palate: Delicious citrus, rock melon and pear with rich caramelised apple flavours. Hints of Turkish delight and rose petals. A smooth, long lingering finish.
Vintage: Beautifully ripe fruit was hand harvested in March at 23.6 Brix after a superb, long, dry summer. Lightly cropped vines at less than 2 tonnes per acre. Whole bunch pressed. Tiny berries produced wonderful concentrated fruit flavours which were preserved by fermenting the wine at cool temperatures.
Residual Sugar: 7 g/L
Acidity: 5.7 g/L

Fullish straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues, lighter on rim. This has a very clear, focussed and fresh bouquet of white stonefruits and delicate floral aromas, along with honeysuckle and spices. Off-dry to taste, finely concentrated flavours of stonefruits, honeysuckle and minerals form an elegant core and a smooth flowing mouthfeel. The fruit shows some succulence and richness and soft acidity combines with a fine textured line to provide a rounded palate line. A little alcohol warmth and power emerges and carries the flavours to a long, dry finish. This is a clean, subtly rich, dry Pinot Gris with smooth textures. Serve with antipasto and first courses over the next 3+ years. «««« Stars

It's beautifully ripe on the nose showing yellow peach, mango, citrus and pear notes with a touch of mixed spice. The palate is succulent and weighty with excellent texture and intensity, leading to a lengthy, expansive finish. At its best: now to 2016.
